I think there are many people who don’t know what a flange is.
This is because this flange is actually a part that you can only see when the toilet is removed.
A flange is a part that connects the toilet to the drain pipe under the floor. Therefore, if there is a problem with this flange, the connection will not work properly and water will leak.
*The flange is attached to the drain pipe on the toilet floor and
is the part that connects the drain pipe to the toilet and secures the toilet in place.
Most toilet tanks and bowls are made of ceramic, and unless they are cracked or otherwise damaged, they have a fairly long lifespan, but parts made from materials other than ceramic have a limited lifespan.
The metal and plastic parts attached to the tank and bowl deteriorate, causing water leaks.
Flanges are one of the parts that deteriorate, with a service life of approximately 10 years.
Here is the deteriorated flange.
The screws holding it in place have rusted and the flange itself is falling apart.
This can result in water leaks or the toilet not being securely fixed, causing it to wobble.
You can replace parts such as the ball tap inside the tank yourself, but the flange cannot be replaced without removing the toilet, so we recommend replacing it at the same time as replacing the toilet.
*This time it seemed like the flange could be used, so I cleaned the original flange and was able to use it.
